TweetServe is a program O2 hopes will help their customers find out a range of account information without needing to phone customer services. The company are tipping this project as “the next stage” in their “digital customer service transformation”. And if it’s a success, it could well mark the beginning of a new role for social media sites. This is definitely one to watch!

VIDEO ADS ARE COMING TO A FACEBOOK NEWS FEED NEAR YOU!

These ads are set to begin playing automatically on selected news feeds, with the sound element only activated if the user actually clicks on the ad. As yet, what Facebook will actually be charging advertisers for this service remains unknown but reports have suggested it could rake in as much as $6.5billion for the social media giant by 2020, and that’s not to be sniffed at!

Cross industry trade bodies representing brands, online advertising companies and publishers have come together to draw up a 6 point set of good practice guidelines in order to address marketers’ and publishers’ concerns over the reputational damage online ad misplacement can cause.

UK MOBILE AD REVENUE TO TOP £1BN THIS YEAR, THEN DOUBLE IN 2014.

These figures sound familiar? Well in June, eMarketer reported that mobile ad spend in the UK had hit the £1bn mark for the first time, and now, new research from the eMarketer team predicts that impressive growth in mobile ad spend to continue.

YOUGOV SAYS TABLETS ARE BECOMING UBIQUITOUS

Apparently it’s no longer a case of if you will buy a tablet device, but when! YouGov’s research suggests that tablet sales in 2014 will come from both new owners first entering the market and existing owners looking to upgrade. So, keep an eye on the ‘devices’ section of your Google Analytics accounts and see if you notice an increase in tablet traffic to your website. If so could be time to update your mobile solution.

FORGET ‘BLINK AND YOU MISS IT’, NOW IT’S WINK AND YOU BOUGHT IT.

Google has added a new feature to their Google Glass device, which it hopes could be the future for ecommerce. Currently the wink functionality on Google Glass allows users to simply take pictures, but in the future that same functionality could be used to pay for products. “…hands free, no mess, no fuss.”

GMAIL’S MOVE TO DOWNLOAD IMAGES BY DEFAULT BRINGS BOTH PROS AND CONS TO ECOMMERCE.

On the up side, your email recipients with Gmail accounts now have one less step to complete in order to view your emails, but on the downside, you may see changes in your opening rates. There will also be no difference in reporting tor Gmail recipients that opened once, compared with those who opened multiple times. So if you’re using these analytics to track engagement, you may need to consider a new system.
